Magic Chef MCWC6B Discontinued – Best Alternatives

The Magic Chef MCWC6B six-bottle cooler no longer has an Amazon listing, and these are the current small coolers I would buy instead.

No current Amazon listing for the Magic Chef MCWC6B turned up in an Amazon search on 25 Sep, and the product appears to be off the market. Magic Chef has not said why. The best current replacement is the Koolatron WC06 6 Bottle: the same six-bottle capacity and thermoelectric single-zone cooling, with a wider temperature range and a large base of owner ratings.

Best Replacement Options

The magic chef mcwc6b was a six-bottle thermoelectric countertop cooler. The three picks below cover an exact capacity match, a compressor option for warmer rooms, and a slightly larger cabinet. Figures come from each current listing.

Koolatron WC06 6 Bottle

Koolatron WC06 6 Bottle – Best Overall Replacement

Six bottles, thermoelectric single-zone cooling and a countertop cabinet, which is the Magic Chef job done by a current model. Its listed 46-66 F range reaches lower than the 54-66 F the MCWC6B was rated for. It has the strongest rating record here at 4.4 of 5 from 1,659 Amazon ratings. The downsides are wire racks rather than chrome and a 90-day warranty. Read our Koolatron WC06 review.

EUHOMY 18L 4 Bottle Compressor Wine Fridge

EUHOMY 18L 4 Bottle Compressor Wine Fridge – Best Compressor Alternative

This is the pick if your room runs warm. It uses compressor cooling rather than thermoelectric, and the listing gives a 40-61 F range, the lowest floor on this page. It is a freestanding countertop unit at 11 W x 14.8 D x 16.8 H in per the listing. The trade-off is capacity: four bottles plus six cans, two bottles fewer than the Magic Chef. Amazon shows 4.2 of 5 from 269 ratings, a small count.

Koolatron KWT10BN 10 Bottle

Koolatron KWT10BN 10 Bottle – Step Up in Capacity

Four more bottles than the MCWC6B in a narrow 9.8 in wide cabinet, with the same thermoelectric single-zone cooling and a 46-66 F range. It is 21.5 in tall, freestanding only, and the listing asks for 5 in of clearance on all sides, so it needs more room than a six-bottle unit. Amazon shows 4.5 of 5 from 370 ratings. Why the Magic Chef MCWC6B Was Discontinued

Magic Chef has not said why. No current Amazon listing for this model turned up in an Amazon search on 25 Sep, and the product appears to be off the market. I will not invent a date or a reason. Here is what our original review recorded about the unit itself.

What It Did Well

  • Six bottles on two sculpted chrome racks, three to a rack, as recorded in our original review, rather than wire racks.
  • A tempered glass door, soft white LED lighting with an on/off switch, and an electronic panel with a Celsius and Fahrenheit toggle.
  • Adjustable levelling legs and thermoelectric cooling with no compressor.

Where It Fell Short

  • A rated range of 54-66 F, as recorded in our original review. That is a red-wine range and does not reach the cooler temperatures most white and sparkling wine want.
  • Six bottles is very little room.
  • No lock, as recorded in our original review, and freestanding use only.

Market Context

Among our picks, the Koolatron WC06 lists a lower temperature floor, and small compressor cooling units like the EUHOMY are on sale that hold a set temperature regardless of the room. For other Magic Chef models, see our Magic Chef brand page.

Our original review did not record exact dimensions for the MCWC6B, so measure the space it left before ordering. The space calculator helps with that, and the thermoelectric guide explains why the room temperature matters for the Koolatron picks.

Buying Used – A Reality Check

Before You Buy a Used Magic Chef MCWC6B

  • The thermoelectric module, fan and door seal are the parts that wear. Wine Cellar Diva has no parts source for this model.
  • The original one-year warranty, as recorded in our original review, will not cover a used unit.
  • With a red-only range and six bottles, a used MCWC6B offers little that a new six-bottle cooler does not do better.

For Current Owners

Keeping Yours Running

Keep the back of the cabinet clear of walls and dust, since a thermoelectric cooler vents its heat there. Keep it away from sunny windows, ovens and dishwashers, and use the levelling legs so the door closes square against the seal. If the inside temperature creeps up while the room stays the same, or the fan stops, the cooling module or fan is failing and replacement is the practical answer. Our guide to how thermoelectric wine coolers work explains the limits.

Questions Readers Ask

Can I still buy the Magic Chef MCWC6B?

Not new, as far as I can find. No current Amazon listing for this model turned up in an Amazon search on 25 Sep, and the product appears to be off the market.

What replaced the Magic Chef MCWC6B?

Magic Chef has not named a successor. The Koolatron WC06 6 Bottle is the closest current match on capacity and cooling type, and the EUHOMY 18L 4 Bottle is the compressor option.

Are parts still available?

Wine Cellar Diva has no parts source for the MCWC6B. Contact Magic Chef directly to ask about a door seal, fan or cooling module.

Should I buy a used one?

I would not. There is no warranty cover, no known parts supply, and the recorded 54-66 F range limits it to reds.

Is a thermoelectric or compressor six-bottle cooler better?

Thermoelectric units like the Koolatron WC06 have no compressor and work best in a room that stays cool. A compressor unit like the EUHOMY holds a set temperature in a warmer room and lists a lower floor, but holds fewer bottles.
