Antarctic Star SINAS46 17 Bottle Wine Cooler Discontinued – Best Alternatives
The Antarctic Star SINAS46 has dropped off Amazon, but the brand still sells a compressor cooler that is very close to it, and that is where I would start.
A model number search on Amazon no longer finds the Antarctic Star SINAS46, and Antarctic Star has not said why. The best replacement is the brand’s own Antarctic Star 16 Bottle / 68 Can: the same 40-61 F range, compressor cooling, a dial control and room for cans, one bottle short of the SINAS46.

Antarctic Star 16 Bottle / 68 Can – Best Overall Replacement
This is the closest like-for-like swap among our current picks. It is a compressor unit from the same brand, with the same 40-61 F range our original review recorded for the SINAS46, a seven-position knob, two removable shelves and double-pane UV glass. It holds 16 Bordeaux bottles or 68 cans, so you lose one bottle. It stands 22.24 inches tall, needs 2 inches of clearance, and has 95 Amazon ratings, a thin base next to bigger sellers. Our Antarctic Star 16 bottle review has the rest.

Antarctic Star Cabinet Beverage Refrigerator 2.4 cu ft – Best Value Alternative
The SINAS46 always did double duty with cans and beer, and this is the brand’s mid-size wine and beverage cabinet for that job. It is compressor cooled behind a glass door and has by far the largest rating base here, 4.2 of 5 from 3,506 ratings. I do not have its bottle capacity or dimensions on record, so check the listing before you buy. You can compare it with the rest of the line on our Antarctic Star brand page.

Wine Enthusiast 24 Bottle Compressor – Step Up in Capacity
If seventeen bottles had started to feel tight, this compressor cabinet takes 24 Bordeaux bottles plus an upright holder for up to four open bottles. It adds a key lock, which the SINAS46 lacked, and its warranty covers the sealed system for three years on top of one year of parts and labour. It is much taller at 30.5 inches, and its 41-64 F range starts a degree warmer. Read the Wine Enthusiast 24 bottle review for more.
Why the Antarctic Star SINAS46 Was Discontinued
The only firm fact is that the listing is gone: searching Amazon for SINAS46 returns nothing. Antarctic Star has not explained the change or given a date, so I will not invent one. Our original review noted that the brand also sold 26 and 37 bottle versions of this design, and the brand still makes a compressor cooler of similar size today.
What It Did Well
- Compressor cooling with an internal fan in a small cabinet, which kept it far less dependent on room temperature than a thermoelectric cooler of the same size.
- A 40-61 F range, as recorded in our original review, low enough for whites and sparkling.
- It handled cans and beer as well as wine, on two movable chrome shelves.
- Dual-pane smoked glass to cut UV light.
Where It Fell Short
- No lock.
- No door handle.
- A mechanical control that our original review placed inside the cabinet, so every adjustment meant opening the door.
- Freestanding use only, per the specifications our original review recorded.
Market Context
At this size many compact wine fridges are thermoelectric, which makes a small compressor model the thing to look for if you want the SINAS46 behavior back. Within Antarctic Star, the 16 bottle / 68 can model carries on the same idea. For how the two cooling types differ, see our thermoelectric guide.

Our original review recorded a net weight of 36.5 lb for the SINAS46. Its three dimensions were listed without saying which was width, depth or height, so measure your space against the replacement you choose rather than against the old unit.
Buying Used – A Reality Check
Before You Buy a Used Antarctic Star SINAS46
- A compressor or sealed-system fault on a discontinued small cooler is rarely worth fixing. Parts for the thermostat dial, fan and door seal may also be hard to find.
- No warranty will come with it. Run it for a few hours before you pay and confirm it reaches the low end of its range.
- Ask whether it has been moved on its side recently. A compressor unit should stand upright for a while before it is switched on.
- The brand still sells a near copy, so a used one only makes sense if it is close to free.
For Current Owners
Keeping Yours Running
Keep the back and sides clear so the compressor can shed heat, and dust the rear coils once or twice a year. Because the control is mechanical, check the actual temperature with a simple fridge thermometer rather than trusting the dial position. If the compressor starts running almost constantly, or you find frost building on the back wall faster than usual, the unit is working too hard and replacement is getting close.

Questions Readers Ask
Can I still buy the Antarctic Star SINAS46 17 Bottle Wine Cooler?
Not new on Amazon. Searching the model number there returns no SINAS46 listing, so any unit you find now will be used.
What replaced the Antarctic Star SINAS46 17 Bottle Wine Cooler?
Antarctic Star has not named an official successor, but its 16 Bottle / 68 Can compressor model is the nearest current match, with the same 40-61 F range and a dial control.
Are parts still available?
Wine Cellar Diva does not have a parts source. Contact Antarctic Star with the SINAS46 model number and ask what they can still supply.
Should I buy a used one?
Only if it is almost free and you can see it cool. The current Antarctic Star 16 bottle model does the same job new, with a warranty.
Can the Antarctic Star 16 bottle model hold cans like the SINAS46?
Yes. The listing gives its capacity as 16 Bordeaux bottles or 68 twelve-ounce cans, so it covers the same mixed wine and can use.
What to Buy Instead
The closest current equivalent to the Antarctic Star SINAS46 is the Antarctic Star 16 Bottle / 68 Can, because it keeps the brand, the compressor, the 40-61 F range and the can-friendly layout. It is one bottle smaller and has far fewer ratings than the brand’s beverage cabinet.
