NutriChef PKTEWC80 Discontinued – Best Alternatives

The NutriChef PKTEWC80 eight-bottle thermoelectric cooler has no current Amazon listing, and these are the current coolers I would look at instead.

No current Amazon listing for the NutriChef PKTEWC80 turned up in an Amazon search on 25 Sep, and the product appears to be off the market. NutriChef has not said why. The best current replacement is the Koolatron KWT10BN 10 Bottle: the same thermoelectric single-zone cooling and a near-identical width, with two more bottles and a wider temperature range.

Best Replacement Options

The nutrichef pktewc80 was a narrow eight-bottle thermoelectric cabinet. All three picks below use the same cooling type and a similar footprint. Capacities, ranges and dimensions come from each current listing.

Koolatron KWT10BN 10 Bottle

Koolatron KWT10BN 10 Bottle – Best Overall Replacement

At 9.8 in wide it is almost exactly as narrow as the PKTEWC80, and it holds ten bottles instead of eight with the same thermoelectric single-zone cooling. The listed 46-66 F range reaches lower than the NutriChef did. It is taller at 21.5 in, freestanding only, and the listing asks for 5 in of clearance on all sides. Amazon shows 4.5 of 5 from 370 ratings, a fair record on a modest count. Read our Koolatron KWT10BN review.

Ivation IV-FWCT081WSS 8 Bottle

Ivation IV-FWCT081WSS 8 Bottle – Closest Size Match

Eight bottles, thermoelectric single zone, and a cabinet of 10.4 W x 20.1 D x 18.7 H in, which is within about an inch of the PKTEWC80 on every side. Its 46-64 F range goes lower, and it adds a key lock, which the NutriChef did not have. The weakness is its record: 3.8 of 5 from a small base of 197 Amazon ratings, 18 percent one-star, and owners report some units stopped cooling after months. Our Ivation IV-FWCT081WSS review covers it.

Koolatron WC06 6 Bottle

Koolatron WC06 6 Bottle – Also Worth a Look

A countertop unit holding six bottles, two fewer than the NutriChef, with thermoelectric single-zone cooling and a 46-66 F range. It is the shortest of the three at about 14.25 in and has by far the largest rating base, 4.4 of 5 from 1,659 Amazon ratings. Choose it only if eight bottles was more than you used. Why the NutriChef PKTEWC80 Was Discontinued

I cannot give a reason, because NutriChef has not published one. What I can say is that no current Amazon listing for this model turned up in a search on 25 Sep, and the product appears to be off the market. Our original review recorded the strengths and limits below.

What It Did Well

  • A narrow cabinet of 9.9 W x 19.7 D x 17.7 H in, as recorded in our original review, that fit on a counter, a bar top or a pantry shelf.
  • Eight bottles on two removable chrome racks, four to a rack, with blue LED interior lighting.
  • Thermoelectric cooling with no compressor, and a weight of 22.1 lbs as recorded in our original review, so it was easy to move.

Where It Fell Short

  • A 50-64 F range, as recorded in our original review. That covers reds but not the cooler temperatures most white and sparkling wine want.
  • Thermoelectric cooling tracks the room, so in a warm space the cabinet ran warmer too.
  • No lock, and racks that could be removed but not adjusted, as recorded in our original review.

Market Context

All three thermoelectric picks above list lower temperature floors than the PKTEWC80 did, and compact compressor cooling units hold a set temperature whatever the room is doing. A red-only thermoelectric range has become hard to justify. For what NutriChef sells now, see our NutriChef brand page.

Both replacements are close to the NutriChef in width and depth. The Koolatron is nearly four inches taller, so check the height under any shelf. The space calculator is a quick way to confirm fit.

Buying Used – A Reality Check

Before You Buy a Used NutriChef PKTEWC80

  • The thermoelectric module and its fan are the parts that wear. Wine Cellar Diva has no parts source for this model.
  • A used unit has no warranty; the original was a one-year warranty as recorded in our original review, and any used one is well past it.
  • A new eight or ten bottle cooler with a wider range makes a used PKTEWC80 hard to recommend.

For Current Owners

Keeping Yours Running

Keep the rear vent clean and give the cabinet a few inches of open space behind it, since a thermoelectric cooler pushes heat out the back. Keep it out of direct sun and away from ovens and dishwashers. Check the door seal for gaps now and then. If the inside temperature drifts upward in a room that has not changed, or the fan stops, the module or fan is on its way out. Our guide to how thermoelectric wine coolers work explains the limits.

Questions Readers Ask

Can I still buy the NutriChef PKTEWC80?

Not new, from what I can find. No current Amazon listing for this model turned up in an Amazon search on 25 Sep, and the product appears to be off the market.

What replaced the NutriChef PKTEWC80?

NutriChef has not named a successor. The Koolatron KWT10BN 10 Bottle is my pick as the best replacement, and the Ivation IV-FWCT081WSS 8 Bottle is the closest match on size.

Are parts still available?

Wine Cellar Diva has no parts source for the PKTEWC80. Contact NutriChef directly to ask about a door seal, fan or module.

Should I buy a used one?

I would not. There is no warranty, no known parts supply, and the recorded 50-64 F range limits it to reds.

Can the NutriChef PKTEWC80 store white wine?

Not at the cooler temperatures most whites want, because its recorded floor was 50 F. The replacements above list 46 F at the low end.

What to Buy Instead

The closest current equivalent to the NutriChef PKTEWC80 is the Koolatron KWT10BN 10 Bottle, because it keeps the same narrow width and thermoelectric cooling while adding two bottles and a lower temperature floor. It stands taller, so measure the height first.
