Ivation IV-FWCT242B Discontinued – Best Alternatives

The Ivation IV-FWCT242B 24-bottle dual zone cooler is no longer on sale, so this page shows the current dual zone coolers that take its place.

The Amazon page for the Ivation IV-FWCT242B (B07JNSLKCW) no longer loads a product, and the manufacturer has not said why. For the same idea, two zones for reds and whites in a freestanding cabinet, the NutriChef 27 Bottle Dual Zone (PKCWCDS275.5) is the closest current replacement, and it switches to compressor cooling.

Best Replacement Options

The IV-FWCT242B was a 24-bottle, two-zone, thermoelectric freestanding cooler. All three picks below keep two zones and move to compressor cooling, which is less dependent on the temperature of the room.

NutriChef 27 Bottle Dual Zone (PKCWCDS275.5)

NutriChef 27 Bottle Dual Zone (PKCWCDS275.5) – Best Overall Replacement

Three more bottles than the Ivation, still dual zone, and compressor cooled, with a listed range of 41-64 F. The shape is different: it is a freestanding tower of 11.61 W x 23.62 D x 43.31 H in, narrower but much taller and deeper than the Ivation, with 10 chrome racks, a digital touch panel and manual defrost. The weak point is feedback: Amazon shows 4.0 of 5 from only 18 ratings, a small count. Read the NutriChef 27 bottle dual zone review or the NutriChef range.

Schmecke 33 Bottle Dual Zone

Schmecke 33 Bottle Dual Zone – Best Dual Zone Step Up

A step up to 33 bottles with compressor cooling and two zones: the upper zone runs 54-64 F and the lower zone 41-57 F. The cabinet is 19.49 W x 16.93 D x 33.39 H in, wider, taller and shallower than the Ivation, with six wire shelves and a key lock plus a control lock. It is freestanding only. Amazon shows 4.0 of 5 from 258 ratings, a much larger base than the NutriChef. See the Schmecke 33 bottle review.

Ca'Lefort 15 Inch 28 Bottle Dual Zone

Ca’Lefort 15 Inch 28 Bottle Dual Zone – Best Built-In Alternative

The only pick here that can go built-in as well as freestanding, thanks to a front vent. It holds 28 bottles, uses a compressor, and lists a dual zone range of 40-65 F in 1 F steps, with five sapele wood shelves, a reversible door, auto defrost and power-failure memory. At 14.8 W x 22.4 D x 34 H in it is narrower and deeper than the Ivation. Amazon shows 4.4 of 5 from 313 ratings. We have no full review of this model yet; see the Ca’Lefort brand guide, or our review of the newer left-hinged Ca’Lefort CLF-WD15L-26US, which adds a three-year compressor warranty.

Why the Ivation IV-FWCT242B Was Discontinued

The Amazon page for this model (B07JNSLKCW) no longer loads a product. The manufacturer has not said why, and I will not invent a date or a reason. What I can set out is what our original review recorded about the unit.

What It Did Well

  • Two independently set zones in a 24-bottle cabinet, split eight upper and sixteen lower.
  • Scalloped metal shelves, six in all, that cradle standard bottles.
  • A touchscreen control panel and a dual-pane smoked glass door with UV protection.
  • A compact footprint of 16.9 W x 20.5 D x 29.1 H in, as recorded in our original review.

Where It Fell Short

  • The zone ranges overlapped heavily: upper 46-64 F, lower 54-64 F. In practice that was one climate with a cooler shelf.
  • Thermoelectric cooling works relative to the room, so in a warm room both zones drift up and the gap between them narrows.
  • The 46 F floor in the upper zone stops short of the colder end many sparkling wine drinkers want.

Market Context

All three replacements use a compressor. Ivation still has other models on the site: see the Ivation brand guide, or our 24-bottle NutriChef and Ivation comparison, which covers the same model.

Ivation figures are as recorded in our original review. If you are replacing it in the same spot, check height first: the NutriChef tower is far taller. The temperature zone matcher can help you decide whether you need two zones at all.

Buying Used – A Reality Check

Before You Buy a Used Ivation IV-FWCT242B

  • Wine Cellar Diva has no parts source for this model. A failed thermoelectric module, fan or door seal may be hard to replace.
  • A used unit has no warranty. On thermoelectric coolers the fans and the cooling modules are the usual failure points as they age.
  • Only consider one if you can watch both zones hold temperature for a day in the room where it will live.

For Current Owners

Keeping Yours Running

Give it clear space at the sides and back so the modules can shed heat, keep it out of sun and away from ovens, and dust the rear fan vents every few months. Keep a thermometer in each zone. If the zones start reading the same temperature, a fan becomes loud or stops, or the cabinet cannot get close to the set point in a normal room, plan a replacement.

Questions Readers Ask

Can I still buy the Ivation IV-FWCT242B?

Not on Amazon. The Amazon page for this model (B07JNSLKCW) no longer loads a product. You may still find a used one from a private seller.

What replaced the Ivation IV-FWCT242B?

No direct successor has been announced. The closest current option is the NutriChef 27 Bottle Dual Zone (PKCWCDS275.5), which keeps two zones and adds three bottles, with compressor cooling in a tall, narrow tower.

Are parts still available?

Wine Cellar Diva has no parts source for this model. Contact Ivation directly and ask what they can still supply.

Should I buy a used one?

Only cautiously. There is no warranty and parts are uncertain, and thermoelectric zones depend on a steady room. Ask to see both zones holding temperature before you pay.

Is a compressor dual zone cooler better than a thermoelectric one?

For most homes, yes. A compressor holds its setting largely independent of the room, which keeps two zones apart. Thermoelectric units work best in a room that stays steady all year.

What to Buy Instead

The closest current equivalent to the Ivation IV-FWCT242B is the NutriChef 27 Bottle Dual Zone (PKCWCDS275.5), because it keeps two zones at a similar capacity and moves to compressor cooling. It has only a small number of Amazon ratings so far, and it is a tall tower rather than a squat cabinet.
